Petronect was created on October 18th of 2002 by the initiative of Petrobras to provide electronic commerce services related to the procurement of goods and services. It is a society with the participation of Petrobras through its subsidiary e-Petro, SAP and Accenture. Since its creation, Petronect has worked exclusively for companies of the Petrobras Group and their suppliers.
In August 2003, Petronect began operating in the Internet Portal of Purchasing and Contracting environment with features acquiring goods and services. Transactions are carried out by this Portal, ranging from requests for quotations and proposals submissions to contracts and orders management.
In August 2009, Petronect’s scope of work was expanded. According to Petrobras’ needs, in order to support its new approach in the procurement process, Petronect was hired to perform the service to obtain quotes for small purchases, named as Service Quotes. This service does not include the choice of suppliers, purchasing authorization and payment handling.
In September 2010, Petronect started a new stage of expansion of its services due to a demand from Petrobras’ financial department, creating a new web portal to enable the Progredir Program. This program aims to increase access to credit and facilitate the deployment and sustainable growth of Petrobras’ Supply Chain.
