The dynamic number presented in the Portal represents the approximate reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) that Petrobras Group is avoiding to release to the environment when using Petronect to make purchases electronically.

The report below presents the environmental impact reduction of Petrobras Group through the saving of paper and travels in the period of 2003-2016.


Since 2003, Petrobras Group uses the Portal as a tool to transact the following purchasing activities: electronic quotation, electronic auction and electronic order.

Offline Period (estimated average weight):

  • A purchasing process (quotation/auction) weights 500 grams of paper.

  • To issue an order, 50 grams of paper are necessary.
  • Data:
    One ton of new paper requires 15 eucalyptus, 30 thousand liters of water and 1,5 thousand Kw/h of energy. Regarding the impact of carbon dioxide, 600 kg of CO2 would be required to produce one ton of paper and 1645 kg of CO2 would no longer be absorbed in the photosynthesis of these trees.

    Each training or every 100 purchasing processes require at least one business trip.

    One business trip travels an average distance of 360km and releases to the environment 126lb of CO2 based on typical emission (0,35 lbCO2/Km) by plane passenger.
